Gourmet & Specialty Food consumer demographics

I just found a very interesting bit of information from the the “Today’s Specialty Food Consumer 2008 Report” by Mintel, The Food Institute, and NASFT. It says:
“Consumers between the ages of 25 and 34 spend the highest percentage of their food dollars on specialty foods “
So, considering that this age group lives, eats (no pun intended), and breathes online, and is very likely to engage in web 2.0 applications and social media/social networking, I guess all of our preaching to food companies about embracing the power of new web technologies holds pretty strong!
